Sarah leads most of NFER’s research in the field of health education and promotion, which has included projects relating to healthy eating, sex and relationships and tobacco, alcohol and illegal drugs. She has experience of other research topics, most recently relating to the 14-19 Prospectus, the choices young people make at age 14 and 16 and school inspections.


Between 1994 and 1998, Sarah studied at the University of Surrey for a degree in Sociology. Her degree included a one-year student placement between 1996 and 1997 as an Assistant Research Officer at NFER. Sarah then joined NFER as a full-time Assistant Research Officer in 1998 after graduating and is now a Senior Research Officer.
