David is a Senior Research Officer in the Research, Evaluation and Information Department and is currently the project leader for three projects: Research into the Characteristics in Unsuccessful Applicants to PGCE courses, sponsored by the TTA, an evaluation of broadband use in schools, and the evaluation of the National School Fruit and Vegetable scheme.

Worked on projects funded by the Big Lottery Fund, the General Teaching Council, Home Office, Department of Health, DfES, Standing Conference on Drug Addiction (now Drugs Scope), Colchester Borough Council, Colchester Community Safety Partnership, Essex Youth Service, Essex Drug Action Team, Surrey Drug Action Team, Redbridge Drug Action Team, Essex Police, Colchester Domestic Violence Forum, Essex Social Services Department and Essex Community Foundation.
Between January 1997 and December 2002 was Research Officer and then Senior Research Officer at Department of Health and Human Sciences, University of Essex where he worked as a researcher and lectured in research methodology.
All work has contributed to the development of policy at local, regional and national levels.
