Caroline works on research and evaluation projects on a variety of themes, but tends to specialise in early childhood education and the arts, creative and cultural education. Her work on early childhood education includes studies of the influence of season of birth on educational outcomes, transition to key stage 1, children’s centre leadership and targeting services on the most needy families. Her work on arts, creative and cultural education includes studies of artists in schools, instrumental music, the impact of Creative Partnerships and quality frameworks for arts and cultural sectors. Caroline has been head of reviews for the Centre for Excellence and Outcomes (C4EO) and acted as NFER’s Liaison officer for the local government education and children’s services research programme. She also directed two projects involving partnership working with schools: research-engaged schools and young researchers.
