Maha Shuayb

Research Officer in the Research, Evaluation and Information Department

" I joined NFER just over a year ago, in 2006; previously I’d been a researcher on an ESRC funded project.

What attracted me to NFER was its very good reputation and I’ve always read its research. When I’d been doing my PhD at University of Cambridge my supervisor suggested I should try and get a job - so I thought I’d try.

I’ve found NFER an interesting place to work. I wanted to work in an environment that combined theory and practice, where what you’re evaluating is real and where you can have a chance of affecting policy.

What’s also is attractive is that the job is permanent, whereas most research jobs are on a two or three year contract. At NFER you can settle in and not have to worry about moving on, and that’s a significant feature. "
