Iain is a Senior Research Officer in the Research, Evaluation and Information Department at NFER’s Northern Office.
Prior experience and professional background
Since joining the NFER in 2006, Iain has led and worked on a wide variety of projects for a range of clients including DCSF, RSC, IoP, the Royal Society, SSAT, LGA, CWDC, and TDA. Iain has experience in designing and undertaking research and evaluation projects using both qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods approaches. He has experience in working with, and collecting data from a wide range of personnel, including policymakers, local authority staff, community and third sector staff, school teaching and non-teaching staff, university staff, and parents/carers, as well as school and university students. Iain has significant experience of analysing quantitative and qualitative data and report writing for a variety of audiences.
Prior to joining NFER, Iain worked in the voluntary sector, carrying out research into school-level and adult/community learning. He has a first class honours degree in social geography, and an MSc in applied social research.
