Kerry is a Senior Research Officer in the Research, Evaluation and Information Department at NFER’s Northern Office. At the present time Kerry is working on a study looking at the outcomes for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller pupils for DCSF and an internally funded project to investigate the extent to which local authorities are working to improve the perception of young people and reduce the fear of youth crime.
Prior experience and professional background
Since joining the NFER in 2004, Kerry has worked on a wide variety of projects for a range of clients including DCSF, LGA, CWDC, CfBT and the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. Kerry has experience in designing and undertaking research projects using both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. She has experience in working with, and collecting data from a wide range of personnel, including directors of children’s services, other local authority staff, community and third sector organisation staff, school teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and carers and children and young people. Kerry has extensive experience of analysing quantitative and qualitative data and report writing for a variety of audiences. She is also experienced in disseminating research findings to both practitioner- and policy-based audiences. Kerry is chair of the NFER’s Thematic Interest Group focussing on vulnerable children.
Prior to working at NFER, Kerry worked as Project Officer for what is now the Higher Education Academy and as Research Assistant at the University of Central Lancashire.
