NFER's Pupil and Parent Perception Survey Service

NFER’s Pupil and Parent Perception Survey Service

This service provides surveys for use with pupils and parents, offering schools an efficient way to consult effectively. It gathers information on how well schools are progressing with the Every Child Matters (ECM) agenda and provides data for the self-evaluation process based on pupil and parent views. The service has been designed to:

  • provide impartial results that will help schools as part of their ongoing improvement
  • help schools undertake the self evaluation process and complete the self-evaluation form (SEF) using the impartial evidence presented in reports
  • provide data to help prepare for inspection
  • track effectiveness compared to others in meeting the requirements of the ECM agenda
  • make the consultation process with pupils and parents less time consuming for schools.

NFER has kept the cost of this service as low as possible - for the 2009/2010 survey prices for the pupil surveys ranged from £210 for an average sized primary school to £550 for an average sized secondary. Costs for a potential 2010/2011 service are currently under review.

Our service for spring and summer surveys are now closed, but we are looking at the possibility of running a termly service in the next academic year. Please contact 01753 637300 or email 3PS@nfer.ac.uk to register your interest.

What do you get from the service?

  • Online questionnaires specifically designed for primary age pupils from year 3 upwards and for all secondary age pupils
  • Paper or online questionnaires for all parents of pupils in the school
  • A simple survey administration service to complete the questionnaires for both parents and pupils
  • Comprehensive reports showing your pupils’ or parents’ views compared to nationally representative norms, with breakdowns by year group and gender for the pupil surveys
  • Specially designed single measures to illustrate results related to ECM outcomes for the pupil surveys
  • Guidance on how to use the reports to help complete the SEF.
