Making an impact

We are keen to help you make an appropriate impact with your research. We will talk to you about the kind of impact you hope to make, and how we can help you to make it. You may wish to target more than one group, for example practitioners and policy makers, and the impact may come in many different ways, such as:

  • changes to practice
  • changes to policy
  • demonstrable increase in understanding of the subject
  • demonstrable increase in knowledge of the subject
  • demonstrable rise in media/policy/practitioner interest in the subject
  • other impacts at your organisation.

In the light of the anticipated impact, we recommend different strategies, such as:

  • careful management of the media
  • maximum exploitation of dissemination channels
  • gathering of feedback from the groups you wish to influence
  • repeat research/evaluation at an appropriate point in the future.
