CS_smalllogo.jpg Participative and consultative work with children and young people

NFER has supported a range of large and small local authorities to consult children and young people to support the implementation of aspects of the Every Child Matters agenda and to prepare for their Children and Young People’s Plans and Joint Area Reviews. NFER has carried out a range of other consultation exercises with children, young people and their families, such as parents’/carers’ views on secondary school choice within one London borough.

CS_image4.jpg In relation to ECM consultations, we identify areas of priority for action in relation to the five outcomes using appropriate quantitative and qualitative methodologies and ECM purpose-designed instruments. Questions are developed based on the specific age and needs of different groups of children and young people, including those with special educational needs.

For further information about these methods or to discuss your requirements, contact the Children’s Services Team at ChildrensServicesTeam@nfer.ac.uk or by phone on 01753 637 324.

Examples of NFER’s work in accessing and consulting, children, young people and families from a diverse range of communities are available on Listening to Children and Young People.
